Archstone Fox Plaza Review

I relocated to SF from NYC approximately 3 months ago and I can't say enough great things about Archstone Fox Plaza!  They were so patient with me with my 8,000 questions I had while living in NYC.  Clay M. answered everything in a timely manner and sent pictures of each apartment I was interested in.  I felt totally comfortable moving here having never seen it with my own eyes.

As for Privacy A. below...I find it funny that he/she is posting his neighbor's private information on Yelp.  That goes against his/her complaints.  Hello, you have now allowed EVERYONE on the Internet to see the person's name, address, and that she owes rent.  The management has been nothing but decent and kind to me and when I have seen letters on neighbors doors, they are ALWAYS in an envelope.  Let's be honest, the economy isn't great and this is a business..you MUST pay your rent!  I was a few days late because I kept forgetting to sign up for the on-line automatic payment and I received emails....I am sure this neighbor of Privacy A. had many attempts at communication before they put the letter on her door.  Shame on you Privacy A. for posting that on the Internet!

I love my apartment, the views are amazing, the building is quiet...not sure about the paper thin walls, because I barely hear anything from my apartment!  There really is no need to have A/C here in the city because it never gets really hot.  Actually, all of the apartment complexes I looked at in the city had no A/C.  That's pretty standard in this city.

I had really bad strep throat and came home from work to 5 boxes of things which were delivered, Clay M. actually carried them up to my apartment for me and they were NOT light!!!

I have a planned vacation for two weeks and I have a cat.  I would never want to take him to a boarding place because I don't want him to get any illnesses, so Jackie H. offered to take care of my cat and my orchid for the two weeks I am away!  I offered her everything...money, gifts, a gift card and she won't accept anything.  How nice to know the person will be able to check on my cat anytime while I am away.  I have to say that I am VERY grateful to Jackie for helping me out a great deal while I am away.  Thanks, Jackie H.!!!!!!  You're the best.  Michelle E. is also fabulous to work with and helpful at all times.  She was also there when Clay M. carried my boxes up and I had just left a dying patient in the hospital and was crying.  They were both very sincere and offered to get me anything I needed...soup, fluids, etc....

The area around here is a little sketchy, but it is a major city and every major city has homeless people.  Twitter signed a lease across the street from this building, so no doubt this area will have to be gentrified and will probably become one of the neighborhoods to be in!!

I don't think there are any CONS for living here.  You have public transportation within a 3-5 minute walk, Starbucks downstairs, a great staff in the leasing office, and security guards who make this a very safe place to live in.

I would definitely recommend anyone to live here!!!!  Super, great place!!  This is definitely a place you can call home and you can always talk to management if you have any issues or concerns!!

Best place I have ever lived.

Berendt Properties Review

This review is for Gary and his relocation service.  This is a different service than having Berendt Properties help you locate an apartment.  Basically, Gary is your "man about town" for however long you're in town to hunt for a rental before you permanently move here.

Gary and I did most of our communicating through emails.  Which is MUCH better for me, because I'm rarely available for a phone call!  He asked extensive questions to get the feel for what my husband and I were looking for.  Since we both like extremely different styles, this was somewhat comical at times.  But Gary took it in stride and attempted to find us a place that would suit us both.

We came here for a long weekend in August.  Each day, Gary would pick us up right after lunch and take us to pre-scheduled showings until dinner.  He had already done his research and attempted to compare what he knew about the rental to what he knew we wanted.  He came prepared to every showing with any information the owner or agent might request, so we never had to fill out an application or gather documents after the fact.  He also handled all negotionations with the owners.

Since we're fairly picky, we didn't find a property that visit.  But Gary kept an eye on the market, and when we came back in October, we found a winner!  We're now living in an amazing 2 story condo in North Beach with a covered, full size garage space, and a washer and dryer in our rental unit!  We love our home, we love our neighborhood, and we definitely love Gary.  Don't think twice about it, sign up for Gary's services today.

Hawthorne House Review

My rock, my anchor, my home.

Hawthorne house is a wonderful place to live. It has become a true oasis for me. I moved here under duress-I was such a mess that by mistake I indicated that I was a 'felon' on the rental application. I'm not. Merely, I had to move suddenly and not by choice. I cried so much as I viewed the apartment and filled out the form that they must have thought I was nuts. Lucky for me they let me in.

Sounds odd to say but this place has truly helped me heal from what I was going through. The entire staff that work here are so helpful and kind and truly take pride in keeping this place clean, working efficiently. Its a really pleasant place to live. They take pride in everything, and therefore I take pride in my small but beautiful home.

Some things I love about Hawthorne House:
Everything works and if it doesn't, they fix it promptly and accurately.
Once a week when you come home the whole building smells lemony-fresh.
The pool. It looks awesome and I can't wait to use it this summer. It's on the 40th floor-you can imagine the views. BBQ's too.
At Christmas they have those straw-like reindeer that look like they are feeding on the grounds. Sounds cheesy but its not-I love it.
They always have new plants and flowers on the grounds.
The light and view of the lake from my place is beautiful. The energy vibrant.
The location-especially if you work downtown, cannot be beat. The 145 or 146 Express bus picks me up right outside and has me down at work in like 12 minutes-I am spoiled by this!
Packages delivered to your door even if you are not home.
If you like running by the lake you are right there.
Huge closets-plenty of storage (unless you are a hoarder I guess)
Great staff all around. My guy Arturo is there if I need help hanging a painting or whatever. They are all helpful and kind and thorough.
The laundry room has US magazine and tons of cheesy novels for your perusal.
People who live here are so nice.

p.s. As far as decorating style, to me this is an ideal place for someone who likes a pretty modern, minimalistic style. I used to be kind of cluttery but I'm not at all anymore since living here. While my place is not huge, it feels great for me living here on my own. I am proud to have people over here.

Ardmore Winthrop Properties Review

I've only been renting from Ardmore Winthrop for a few months, but I can't say enough complimentary things about this company.  Everyone who works here, from the office staff to the building maintenance people, has been endlessly helpful and accommodating.  They are the best rental company I've ever dealt with - no question.

I live in their Hollywood Beach building - probably the ugliest of Ardmore Winthrop's properties (it was built in the 70s, whereas many of their other buildings are lovely vintage structures), but it's very well-maintained, and the apartment itself is great.  Rent is reasonable for the neighborhood and includes all utilities except for electricity.  There's also parking in the basement for a not-too-high monthly fee (it's worth it to avoid street cleaning!).  They even have another garage a block over with plenty of extra spaces for out-of-town guests.

Other great things about Ardmore Winthrop:  they are incredibly reasonable about issues which can often be problematic with other rental companies.  For example, my partner and I were both unemployed when we moved in, but they didn't make us have a co-signer on our lease.  Also, we have two cats, and we didn't have to pay any kind of pet deposit.  Overall, they are respectful and understanding and always treat their tenants like human beings.

I have to give special thanks to the building manager, Mike, who is *amazing* - when we moved in, we had a terrible time getting our moving truck out of the alley behind the building thanks to our utter lack of Chicago driving skills.  So Mike actually helped us *drive our truck* back to the rental drop off place, and then had one of his maintenance guys provide a ride home.  On a Sunday evening, no less.  Talk about going above and beyond!

I can't recommend Ardmore Winthrop highly enough, and I'm looking forward to continuing to rent from them for the foreseeable future.

Saffron Realty Group Review

Ron Knoll = Amazing.

Ron is one of the co-owners of this real estate firm (the Ron in Saffron) and despite the extra paperwork that must come with the title, he was there for us every step of the way.

My then-boyfriend (got engaged during the house-hunt and not even my mom was as excited as Ron!) and I were first time buyers and went to Saffron directly because of their Yelp rating.  Ron called me back right away and talked with me about our needs.  We *thought* we wanted a foreclosure property.  We *thought* we wanted a fixer-upper.  After seeing exactly what that means in this economy, we hastily revised our wants/needs/desires and opened up our search range and Ron just rolled with it, never pushed or pulled at us.

We took a home buying class before starting our search which probably made us a dangerous combination - both with too much and too little knowledge of the home buying process.  Ron had great suggestions for us and never balked at our requests - even when one of them included moving our close date up by a month.  Never a doubt that it would happen - and it did!

We did take him up on his suggestion of lawyers (Michelle Laiss - fabulous!) and his mortgage guy (Jeff came to our small, hot apartment to fill out the paperwork!) and couldn't be happier with their work as well.

All in all, Ron was amazing.  He was there with us despite the fact his first child was born just a few hours after one of our outings (sorry Mrs!)  We took longer than the average buyer and saw probably 50+ houses, but couldn't be happier 8 weeks after closing the deal.

K4 Properties Review

Kyle and Kevin are the dynamic duo of the real estate world. We were relocating to the Bay Area, had met Kyle about 9 months before the move while visiting an open house during a visit to SF. He was super approachable and helpful, despite knowing we were not able to buy the house in which he was hosting the open house. He stayed in touch with us the entire time and hooked us up to their site so we could watch and learn about the market from our home.

When we were ready to seriously find a place, Kyle and Kevin worked overtime to get us into see as many places as possible over a few short days. We found an amazing place, and they really helped us work out some of the unique details. They also continue to follow up with us, which is really great.

Herth Real Estate Review

Christopher Dallas was an incredible negotiator for me; in a complex real estate market such as SF, he is able to bypass the "noise" and cut to the chase on what issues you should be focusing on at what phase of the deal. He truly cares about his clients and works tirelessly to serve their interests. In addition, the Herth team - in my case, Larry Stebbins and Mike Shaw - stepped in whenever needed to ensure my service needs were always met. I'm giving this 4 stars because I did a lot of legwork to find my actual property, but once I identified it, the team was exceptional in servicing me as a SF client!
